Explore our History with the New Documentary and Heritage Hub

This year, SkillsUSA celebrates 60 years of empowering America’s skilled workforce and we’re bringing our history to life with two exciting new projects:

The SkillsUSA Heritage Hub — An immersive digital experience showcasing our journey from VICA’s founding in 1965 to today’s thriving and growing SkillsUSA. Discover rare photos, artifacts and first-hand stories from the people who made it all happen. You can contribute your own photos, stories and memorabilia. There is a contribution link on every page. Let’s celebrate our past and inspire the future — together! Visit now: Heritage.SkillsUSA.org.

History of SkillsUSA Documentary — In this short video you will hear from the pioneers, leaders and changemakers who shaped SkillsUSA’s legacy from our humble beginnings to our incredible future. Watch the documentary: History of SkillsUSA: 60 Years of Student Success.

Help Us Celebrate Class of 2025 SkillsUSA Academic Achievers!

Do you know a SkillsUSA student who’s been named Valedictorian or Salutatorian for their high school or who was chosen as a featured speaker at their college graduation based on their academic standing? We want to recognize these outstanding members in an upcoming feature in SkillsUSA Champions magazine.

If you have a student in your state who’s earned a prestigious academic honor, please share their name, school, program area and — if available — their future education or career plans. Tell us about their SkillsUSA involvement and provide a cap and gown photo.

Let’s shine a spotlight on academic excellence within our SkillsUSA community! Send details to Jane Short.

Got Story-Worthy Champions?

At the national conference, the staff of SkillsUSA Champions digital magazine will be on the lookout for story ideas and interview subjects. If you know of a SkillsUSA student, advisor, industry representative or alumnus who will be at national conference and whose story is motivating and inspirational, please email SkillsUSA’s Director of Marketing and Communications Clare Briner. A member of the MarCom team will then reach out to set up a time during the conference week to meet these individuals. You can also stop by the Media Room in GWCC A-402 anytime to share story ideas and contacts. We look forward to meeting your champions!

Volunteers and Judges Needed at NLSC

The Office of Workforce Development still needs unpaid volunteers who can serve as competition judges for the National Leadership & Skills Conference (NLSC) in Atlanta. Volunteers should be available in Atlanta on both Wednesday, June 25 and Thursday, June 26 to judge Skilled and Technical, Leadership and Occupationally Related competitions. If you are an educator or partner who will be at NLSC who does not have student competitors and would like to assist, please complete the SkillsUSA Volunteer Interest Form. Questions? Contact Brandon Hudson.

Save the Date for Elevate 2025!

The SkillsUSA Elevate Chapter Officer Development Conference will be held on Oct. 8 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Elevate is SkillsUSA’s virtual leadership training for chapter officer teams that participate as a group from their classroom. The cost is $50 per chapter and there is no cap on the number of attendees.
