Advisor of the Year Program (NEW REQ)

Beginning this year the Advisor of the Year will have two requirements, Paid Professional Membership and achieve minimum Level 2 within the SkillsUSA Chapter Excellence Program for the current year.

The SkillsUSA Advisor of the Year program recognizes Professional members who actualize the organization's mission of empowering students to become world-class workers, leaders, and responsible American citizens. A SkillsUSA chapter is only successful with the support of an Advisor who has dedicated themselves to career and technical education by intentionally integrating the SkillsUSA Framework and ensuring students can articulate the skills they have developed. State recipients are submitted to the regional competition. During NLSC, regional winners are interviewed, and a national winner is selected. The deadline to submit state-level recipients is April 1, 2023.

Seeking “Straight-Out-of-High-School” Success Stories

SkillsUSA Champions magazine is looking to feature more success stories about members who chose career pathways that did not involve college and instead embarked on successful and fulfilling skilled trades careers directly out of high school. If you know of SkillsUSA graduates in your state who fit that description, please let us know. We anticipate that these students are successfully employed because of the skills they gained through SkillsUSA and that they did not incur student loan debt to launch their careers. If these students went to work for a partner they met through SkillsUSA, we’d love to hear about that, too. Please send a brief description of your graduate to Office of Communications Associate Director Karen Kitzel.
